About
The Sowers Club is a 'Resourcing Agency for the Great Commission'. Our 2020 Vision is to 'Recruit, Equip and Mobilize 1000 missionaries by the year 2020', and you can help us to fulfil it!
History
The Sowers Club began simply as a way for partners to connect with and support Matt and Julie Beemer as they launched out into the mission field.
However, in 2001 shortly after the September 11th tragedy, Pastor Matt was praying and the Lord spoke his heart about ‘reversing the trend’. Pastor Matt recalls… ‘I didn’t even know there was a trend at that time, later I found that after September 11th literally hundreds of missionaries came off the field.’ As Pastor Matt continued to pray into it, the Lord put it in his heart that the Sowers Club was to become a ‘Resourcing agency for the Great Commission’. Pastor Matt was to use the experience that he and Julie had gained living and ministering on the mission field to help others to do the same.
What the Sowers Club is...
Smart Missions: Your support goes further!
A Connection Point: Finding credible ‘Word of Faith’ missionaries or projects isn’t always easy. The Sowers Club helps you to connect with qualified and proven ministries and projects.
Interested in the Missionary: By providing missionaries the support they need (both practical and financial) they stay on the field longer and are more effective.
Peace of mind: You know your missionary will have accountability, without being controlled.
Beneficial to both missionary and supporter: The missionary has the benefit of being cared for and supported, plus benefits from a cooperative approach which provides free or discounted administration and access to other important services. Because of this, missionaries are released to do more of the work they are called to do. The supporter gains from knowing that the missionary has proven themselves to be credible, plus their support goes further because of The Sowers Club’s provision of free services.
What the Sowers Club is not...
A traditional Missions organization: Traditional Missions organizations have been very effective. However, there are limitations and drawbacks, especially for independent Word of Faith missionaries. For example, most missionary organizations charge for their services and/or they put a lot of controlling requirements that restrict missionaries from following their heart. The Sowers Club is relationship based.
Controlling: The Sowers Club provides accountability without the controlling aspects of telling the missionary what to do and where to go.
A Business: One Hundred Percent of all missionary giving goes to the missionary, or project, it’s designated for. The Sowers Club HQ is only able to do this because it raises it’s own support and relies on volunteers to facilitate a large part of it’s administration.
